PUBLIC NOTICES
Dear Parents, Priests, Staff and Students,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome back all families to what we hope will be a more straight forward term. I trust everyone had the opportunity to rest and recharge over our recent break.
We welcome our new families to St Joseph's: Ava Yr 3 and Spohia Bolster Yr 1, Millie Bentick Yr 3 and Fleur Donizetti Kinder, and we look forward to working with you all.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any queries or concerns at any time.
Have a great week
Tony Boyle
Principal
Dear parents,
Please check the name on the jackets, jumpers and hats in your child's school bag or at home. We have a number of these items missing and the parents have said their child's name is on them. Obviously they all look the same and the children often just pick up the nearest item and put it in their bag. Please check and return to school if you find you have someone else's jacket, jumper or hat.
Thanking you for your continued co operation.
Chris
Current guidelines still prohibit parents from the school grounds. Any parents attending the school are only permitted in the front office. Parents picking children up via foot are asked to publicly distance at the Beryl Street gate.
All health and hygiene procedures are being carried out within the school. All children have access to soap, hand sanitizer and disinfectant and are encouraged to utilise them as often as possible.
Children are reminded to bring their own water bottle which can be refilled within the classroom.
As previously advised all children crossing the QLD/NSW border on the bus or on foot are now required to carry a current border pass.
Remember that these passes change each week.
Due to the current situation with the Pandemic, a decision has been made to cancel Yr 4 Camp to Lake Ainsworth, the Yr 5 Camp to Brisbane and the Yr 6 Camp to Canberra for this year. This decision was not made lightly but in the best interest of the health and safety of students and staff. Parents will be refunded any monies they have already paid. Other, shorter excursions may be made possible in term 4 if the situation improves.
Year 6 parents who have not yet sent in their bank details for a refund please do so ASAP.
Thanks
Chris
Dear Parents,
Students from K-6 will be participating in Drama sessions this term as part of our Enrichment program. The class sessions will be facilitated by professional drama instructors from NORPA ( North Coast Performing Arts). NORPA Education’s theatre in schools program helps teachers and schools engage students in the skills, techniques and language of drama.
Each class will have 3 sessions whereby students will be invited and guided to develop a character, using a range of theatrical conventions, that they feel is needed in today's world to create a better future. Students will engage with a range of values, while exploring the concept that democracy relies on dissensus as much as consensus. There is no cost for the students as the school will cover the fees for these lessons.
A photographic session will be held in Week 7 where students will be required to be dressed in one colour which represents their character. A note of permission will be required to be completed for this photo session via Care Monkey. Please attend to this asap.
Regards,
Jenny Hill
Enrichment Co-ord.
Although parents are unable to enter school grounds they are strongly urged to keep in contact with their child's classroom teacher. This is possible via phone, direct email or requested 'zoom' meeting.
Please remember that I am also personally available to answer questions or concerns you may have.
Tony
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Caremonkey is a communication platform that allows us to collect your digital permission for events, sports activities and excursions etc. This is in the form of a digital app for your smartphone or ipad.
This is a quick note to inform you that our digital forms and school operations platform provider, CareMonkey, will be rebranding as ‘Operoo’:
The name change will occur the week beginning Monday August 3rd. How you use the service, as well as the ownership and operation of the company, will remain unchanged.
You can continue using the system, and its mobile application, as usual. Just be aware that, after Monday August 3rd, emails and notifications sent from the system will start appearing under the new name ‘Operoo’. You will also be automatically diverted to the new Operoo website if you go to the old CareMonkey website.
We look forward to continuing to digitise, streamline and automate our processes for you with Operoo.
CAREMONKEY TEAM
N.B.
Please understand that if you change your email address, the parent must change it on the NEW OPEROO yourself, the school can not change it now as you are the primary contact. Hopefully this change will be seamless.

The children will not be attending any Parish celebrations this term. Each grade will celebrate a Class Liturgy in the classroom focusing on topics covered in Religion lessons
YEAR 5 MASS
Year 5 celebrated a class Mass on Friday 3rd July at 10.15am. The theme of our Mass was 'Joy' and Father Wilber said the Mass in the Year 5 classrooms Father Wilber prepared for the Mass in front of us and explained what he was doing as he prepared. Everyone enjoyed being close to Father and the altar because it made it easy to see and hear what was happening. Our Mass was a reverent, spiritual experience for us all and we are looking forward to the next one.
