Term4 Week 6
Dear Parents/Carers,
Here we are midway through our final term for the year.
As per our correspondence last week, parents are only permitted on school grounds to assist with curriculum delivery (e.g. reading groups) and canteen. To be able to enter the school, parents must show evidence of double vaccination as directed by the N.S.W. Health Order.
All staff currently attending work are fully vaccinated.
I apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause, however, we are governed by the legislation.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.

This week the yarn up group had the opportunity to plant our Bush Tucker Garden. We were extremely fortunate to get funding through Anastasia Scott’s assistance to receive the Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant. We planted Finger limes, lemon myrtle, native mulberries, midgen berries, jaboticaba grapes and blue berries. We’re still awaiting our Fraser Island Apple, Davidson plum and salt bush which should arrive over the coming weeks.
The children are excited to educate our school community and help in the maintenance of our garden.
In response to: Year 5 Leadership Retreat... Called To Lead. By Kalani
25.10.21 Yesterday, our class 5T went to a leadership retreat/ Called to Lead. We were put in 5 groups after lunch across the hall.
The first group, we had poems and picked which one we liked. The 1 that spoke out to me was the Dalai Lama one, "Talking is just repeating something u already know, but listening is learning something new". I really liked this one because to be a leader you can’t just talk, talk and talk, sometimes you just have to listen.
On the second activity we talked about people having rough times and be homeless and how we have think about putting our feet in other people’s shoes. We named some things on a piece of paper with feet on it. I named listening and role model. We need to know how to be a good leader for the next year.
On the 3rd activity we learnt about St Maximilian Kolbe. His story was he was a priest, and some people were on death-row for their religion, 1 man called out for his wife and child. This touched Maximilian's heart, so he sacrificed his life for him. He was 1 of the last left but then got a needle which killed him. But he kept praying and stuck with his faith. So that's the story of Maximilian. Sometimes you need to sacrifice things to be a leader. So that's how it refers to being a leader. This touched me because sometimes I have to sacrifice things and I don't like it but u have to.
The 5th activity was about writing on our own paper about the Pope Francis and his qualities. We also had to write down what qualities we need for next year since we will be the new leaders of the school and we need to know what we have to do.
The 6th activity was with Mrs Tilley and we got a sheet to write a prayer on for the liturgy. It was about leadership. I liked this experience it was fun. I also learnt the qualities I need to be a school leader.
Thank you Mrs Scott, Mrs Tilley, Mrs McLean, Mrs Wilkins and Mr Boyle for this experience.
